Gulmarg offers some magical skiing. A new
Gondola takes skiers to the heights where crisp snow makes skiing
a delight. Some of the best slopes in the country for beginners
and intermediate skiers are available at Gulmarg. Skiing equipment
is available on hire from the Ski-Shop. In winter Gulmarg's
natural slopes and inclines turn into the country's premier skiing
resort. Not all tourists who visit in winter come for skiing.
Tobogganing, the most popular among them requires no skill. No
skill is required - a flat wooden board is taken up the hill and
is allowed to descend downhill. There are also snow scooters and
snow bobbing.

strenuous trek or game of golf. All through the summer one can go on

Gulmarg a distance of 56 Km. J&K Tourism has one, two, three, and
four bed roomed huts, cozy and inviting with their wood paneled
interiors. These huts are fully furnished with attached kitchens. It
is possible to hire a cylinder of gas from the Tourist office. In
addition are several privately run hotels which range from the well
appointed to the modest, all with dinning facilities.

Skiing in Gulmarg - Kashmir
 Gulmarg has been the premier spot for Ski lovers, with good snow conditions
from December to April .Modern facilities such as T bars, ski lifts, chair
cable cars and ropeways are also available.
Helisking is also possible at Gulmarg Skiing is done on open slope , off trail
through the pine forests .Among the major facilities available for skiing is
the Gulmarg Gandola Cable Car from Gulmarg to the majestic heights of the
Apaharwat mountains, to facilitate the Ice hockey and Ice skating games are
also played now at Gulmarg.
Gulmarg
Originally called Gaurimarg’ by shepherds’ its present name was given in the
16th century by Sultan Yusuf shah, husband of famous poetess Habba Khatoon ,
who was inspired by the sight of its glossy slopes emblazoned with wild
flowers. Gulmarg was a favourite haunt of Emperor Jehangir who once collected
31 different varities of flowers from here. Situated at an altitude of 2730
mtrs (8700) ft from sea level, Gulmarg turns into a meadow of romance during
summer and a ski-resort during winters. It is the only ski resort in the
mighty Himalayas where you can ski with a magnificient view of the karokarams,
K2 Nanga Parbat and Nunkun.
About Gulmarg Gandola
 World renowned M/ S Pamagalaski of France have supplied and installed the
Ropeway system at Gulmarg Gandola Project.
The type of system installed is detachable grip type in which the Gandola
carrying the passengers get detached from the carrying rope at the terminal
station. A number of safety devices serve as integral part of the system
design to ensure absolute safety of passengers. Gulmarg Gandola project has
become a great tourist attraction. The maximum hourly capacity of Gandola is
1500 persons per hour . The Travel speed of the cable is 0 to 5, / Sec. The
Gandola has become Cynosure of all eyes, be it rendezvous of adventure tourist
in summer or the forvays and expeditions of winter skier’s after snow fall.
